Lutzker & Lutzker and the DC Chapter of INBLF, International Network of Boutique and Independent Law Firms, hosted the network’s 20th anniversary Black Tie Weekend November 7-9, 2024.

Participating in the event from L&L were Arnie Lutzker (President of INBLF), Susan Lutzker, Jeannette Carmadella, Ben Sternberg, Carolyn Wimbly Martin, Ethan Barr and Janet Fries.

The Royal Sonesta Hotel at Dupont Circle was the headquarters for the conference. By coincidence, 22 of Janet’s portrait photographs were on exhibition at the Cosmos Club, a Washington, D.C. social club providing intellectual fellowship since 1878, and the venue for one of the social evenings of the conference. The culmination of the event was a gala Black Tie Dinner held at the beautiful Beaux-Arts headquarters of the Organization of American States. Entertainment was provided by Young Artists of America.

Business sessions featured discussions on what AI will mean for law practices, the UNIDROIT principles of International Commercial Contracts and opportunities for doing business in Latin America. Rounding out the BTW events were guided tours of the Gilded Age homes of Dupont Circle and the Phillips Collection (the first museum of modern art in the U.S.).

The Women’s International Network (WIN) of INBLF hosted Amanda Bennett, CEO of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which oversees Voice of America and Radio Free Europe, among other agencies. A panel discussion on appellate litigation from the academic and practitioner points of view featured Stephen Vladeck, professor of law at Georgetown University and author of The Shadow Docket: How the Supreme Court Uses Stealth Rulings to Amass Power and Undermine the Republic, and Charles Frazier of INBLF member firm Alexander Dubose and Jefferson in Dallas, Texas.
