Lutzker & Lutzker law clerk Lauren Pittman and fellow GW Law School student Sydney Huppert won Third Place at the New York City Regional of the Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court Competition. Sponsored by the International Trademark Association, the Competition tests the skills of students in a mock courtroom experience involving important U.S. trademark and unfair competition issues. Lauren and Sydney’s case involved a trademark infringement claim by a record shop against a band for use of its slogan and the band’s counterclaim of false endorsement for the shop owner’s use of the band’s identity to sell records. Lauren and Sydney placed third overall next to UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law and Yale Law School, and GW Law is the alternate in the National competition should one of them not be able to participate.
