Carolyn Martin will be speaking on May 10 to technology professionals at the National Association of Media & Technology Centers (NAMTC) Northeast Regional Leadership Summit in Syracuse, NY. Her presentation on Copyright Issues for K-12 will be followed by a facilitated discussion of copyright compliance with the attendees, who face difficult copyright issues on a daily basis. The Summit is being held at the OCM (Onondaga-Cortland-Madison) BOCES (Boards of Cooperative Educational Services).
On May 18 Arnold Lutzker will address the Swampscott, Massachusetts, Democratic Town and Age-Friendly Committees on the topic of Protecting Individual Privacy and Online Identity. His talk will focus on how the business model of “surveillance capitalism” and the sophistication of technology is putting our personal information at risk even in the privacy of our homes. On May 19 Jeannette Carmadella will moderate a table discussion at the International Trademark Association’s annual meeting. Her topic is Brand Protection in the Cannabis Industry: State Rights vs. Federal Roadblocks to Trademark Registration. With the increase in business owners looking to develop and protect their brands in this rapidly growing industry, this will be a timely and exciting topic for discussion.
